''Don't judge book by it's cover; there are two sides of a story.''
The movie had a strong start with the corpse of a girl, been stabbed numerous times and burnt. The victim, Noriko Miki was given the name Snow White (the movie title speak for itself), since she was working for a soap company with a famous soap brand ''Snow White''.
The movie changed its focus to an indie film director (redstar-his twithandle) who came across this murder case and worked alone to discover the truth. The unique element (at least to me) was, redstar used Twitter to expose whatever he could get his hands to about this case. Throughout the movie, his tweets and replies and angry followers were shown, quite fun to watch. This funny guy, was just an ordinary guy who tweeted like, every second mostly about everything and his tweets were actually about ramen reviews. That was funny, because he was so like EVERYONE ON TWITTER. Hihi.
Shirono Miki was the number one suspect.
She was suspected because:-
1. She stole Noriko's limited edition pen. Also suspected for a number of thefts at the company.
2. Out of jealousy, she killed Noriko who stole her boyfriend.
3. Two of them were always compared.
4. Noriko was last seen in her car after a company party.
5. She was seen running to the train station on the night of the murder.
6. She caused a high school's classmate's major leg injury. This classmate of hers was a talented soccer player, and once embarrassed Shirono in class, leading the others to believe that she planned the accident that affect the boy's leg.
7. She started a fire that destroy her village's shrine, while playing with a voodoo doll.
What can you conclude from here? Obviously, it was all jealousy right? From stealing her boyfriend to being inferior to a person with the same name. We all could say that she sucked big time with her mental state, It could be possible that Shirono might kill her, right? All of these seemed right enough that we could be certain that Shirono was the murderer.
Let me take you to a journey of ''There are two sides of a story.'' Just love how this movie had a plot twist worth screaming for.
First, let's start with the boyfriend part. This is him.
Redstar got the informations that Shirono was the one who started the move to this guy. Yes, Shirono liked him. Well, Shirono started making him bentos as a plan to capture his heart. At a point, they even slept together. Shirono assumed that they were an item. One day, this filthy guy asked her not to make his bentos again. Turned out that he dated Noriko, and Noriko of course didn't like another girl to make foods for her boyfriend. Shirono did stop then. Truth be told, Noriko and this guy dated just like, 2 seonds and broke up. BUT, this guy, this filthy filthy guy, when he was interviewed, his answers just-
He said that Shirono and him were just friends, true that she made bentos for him but that was it. LIAR. How could it was just friends, they even had a one night stand ! Obviously this guy was good for nothing. You ate her bentos, took care of her like you honestly care then asked to stop communications the very next day. I HATE HIM. You wanna know the truth?
Noriko Miki, the victim, knew that Shirono had a crush to this guy. Using her looks, she got to get this guy to date her. For? Yes. To make Shirono's happiness crushed into pieces. She used the guy, dumped him when Shirono already at loss of words after a ''break up''.
About Shirono starting a fire when she was a child, hmm. When I first learned about this, I also thought that Shirono might be some psycho at this age. Anyway, this is her first bestfriend ever.
They were bestfriends since elementary school and stopped seeing each other since the fire incident. This bestfriend of hers were the most pretty girl at town at that time(when they were young). One day, there was this new girl at school (she was pretty), who seemed uncomfortable about another girl having the most pretty girl title. So this new girl and gang bullied this pretty girl up here ^ to a point she didn't want to go to school. At one scene, her class homeroom teacher were checking attendance and you know what, she made fun of her students' names. When it was this pretty girl ^ turn, the new girl said ''Teacher, call her octopus.'' / ''Oh, okay. Everyone let's call her octopus from now.'' THAT. WAS. SICK. What kind of teacher is that. Shirono, doing her best to cheer her up. They were doing what was written in a teenager magazine, making a voodoo doll of the person you hate and burn it down. Tbh, this was like in those typical teenager magazines about love, friendships and stuffs. Hey, even I used to have that kind of magazines too! Alright, they were my sister's, I read them secretly hihi.Okay, so the two of them did as instructed and psssssh wrong place dude. They had their little ritual at the village's shrine, specifically a mini forest. Somehow the whole place was burnt down. Both of their parents forbid them from meeting each other ever again.
Okay, so it wasn't a psycho act after all. Well? We are getting closer to learn the real murderer!
About Shirono stealing Noriko's limited edition pen. Wow k, so this pen was a merchandise of a musician band (Serizawa brothers), limited edition yep. So the plot was not many people knew about this Serizawa brothers ( they only played musical instruments, 2 violinists and the youngest of the brothers played the piano). So, one day, this pen of Noriko's went missing. Later it was known that Shirono also loved the Serizawa brothers. There came the suspicion that the pen was of her crime.
Way before the pen incident, Noriko's partner broke Shirono's favorite mug. The mug had a big initial S on it. Later Noriko found out that the S stood for Serizawa brothers, and started listening to them too. This fox haish. Only after that, she bought a Serizawa brothers pen. For? YES YOU ARE SO RIGHT THIS TIME. She wanted to make Shirono to be jealous of her.
About Shirono's classmate who hurt his leg. Actually, this boy who was her high school classmate, was her crush. One day, he was playing around and kicked a dirty cloth that later landed on Shirono's head. She was red as hell. The boy apologized many times but Shirono refused to accept his apology no matter what. Ergh *roll eyes*. She did that on purpose! Just so that this boy she liked would come to see her again and again to apologize. Just about the day she decided to accept his apology, this boy had an accident, and hurt his leg and said bye bye to his bright soccer future. Dayum obviously she wasn't the one who planned the accident as people claimed. Daaa *roll eyes again* . He was her crush for gods sake.Again, Shirono was not a psycho.
Do you still think Shirono killed Noriko?
This is the real killer.
What a mindblown that she was the one who call redstar for an interview about Noriko's murder. One more thing, Risako was Noriko's partner! She called redstar (apparently her university colleague), convinced redstar and kept pushing Shirono to a corner, She wasn't pleased with Noriko's attitude. Shirono kind of tricked Risako to stealing a Snow White soap, just to end up appearing as a reliable partner to protect Risako. What on earth ?! She basically dissed her, ''You should use this Snow White soap.'' and sneaked the soap to Risako's pocket.Risako might take that as offensive since she was kind of dark-skinned. Later Risako was accused of stealing (that soap Noriko gave her), but then Noriko stood up for her saying that it was her fault for not teaching her partner well. Risako's expression at that time was basically priceless.
The Serizawa brothers pen that Noriko bought to win over Shirono, that was Risako's act. Starting from here, we could see that Risako was slowly showing her mental changes. Stealing Noriko's pen was a first then she started to steal stuffs from the company. It was a form of satisfaction for her. She stole them for no reason. But damn, busted! Noriko found out about it.
With a carefully-planned murder, Risako used Shirono and got to bring her prey(Noriko) to an isolated place. Without mercy, she stabbed her, and feeling unsatisfied with just stab wounds, she decided to pour gasoline and BURN BURN BURN BURN!
When asked why she did what she did, Risako said ''I just don't want to lose my job.'' Since Noriko was the only one who knew about the real thief, Risako felt a threat she needed to get rid of. Nah, she was just a bit sick, on her head. Damn psychos.
On the other hand, our main suspect Shirono woke up to a news of her same-name-but-steal-my-happiness-and-trashy-attitude colleague's death. On Twitter(oh she had one!) people were leaving malicious comments about her. Remember at the start of redstar's(that indie director) investigation, Risako convinced her that Shirono was the main suspect? Redstar without thinking the hell out of him, exposed Shirono's name on his Twitter. Then, came all the bad comments about Shirono, from there Shirono was about to commit suicide when thankfully the news came out that Risako confessed to the murder. Thank god! Internet just about to make someone innocent killed herself!
This movie is so good! Love the plot twist! Love how everyone's attention diverts from criminal Shirono to the innocent Shirono. It can be seen that Shirono is just a low-profile girl whose happiness was taken right before her eyes, whose bestfriend was taken from her, was thought to be an introvert who might be scheming a crime during her free time. Nope! She is the complete opposite. Meanwhile, the victim Noriko was the bad character that took advantage of her good looks to step on others. How could she played on innocent Shirono's heart! :c
Redstar who lost his job after Risako's confession went to Shirono's parents for forgiveness and then he bumped to a ''stranger''.
LOL. Redstar didn't recognize Shirono!!!!!
